マウス

Mouse

For the last few weeks
I have been struggling with the mouse
I use for the PC in the studio.

The mouse wasn't working properly and
when I shook it
there was some clacking sound inside.

There must have been something fallen off
from where it should be.

I tried to open it but could not.

Still, I managed to work with it for the last few days
switching it off and on when it stopped.

But eventually it completely broke down yesterday.

When Yoshi Matsushita came back to the studio,
I told him I needed a new mouse because it was broken.

He casually asked me if the battery was okay.

What?
I thought.

"No, it cannot be the battery...

Because it's gradually got worse and worse..."

"Oh no, it never occurred to me but..."

I tried a new battery
and here it was, working smoothly without any hassle.

Well, we should not forget about the fundamentals.

It is the same in dancing.
Shall we return to the very basic,
which we tend to forget sometimes.

There was a terrible typhoon this morning.
I hope everyone was okay.

Our studio at Amano Dance Academy
was closed this early afternoon
due to the typhoon,
but is now open as usual.

Yesterday, on Sunday 5 October 2014,
Yoshi Matsushia and Mario Hosoya
entered Kanto Ballroom Dance Championship
at Yokohama City Education Center.

We luckily got 6th place.

We were very happy
as it has been for a while
since we got the final last time.

Some people came to the competition venue
in the rain
to cheer us up.

All the cheering we received
was a big encouragement for us.

Thank you so much!

Our next competition is

East Japan Challenge Cup
and if we are successful,
East Japan Star Championship

on Sunday 26 October, 2014,
at newly rebuilt
Ebisu 303 Hall.

There is also a big competition,
"All Japan Professional Ballroom Championship,"
on Monday/Holiday 3 November.

Thank you so much for your continuous support!

Pear

I got a pear from the studio.
A big and round, delicious pear.

I put it in a plastic bag,
and carried it in a paper bag.

On the way from Yokohama Station to my home,
there is a school.
A cute stray cat was there
so I greeted her,
put my paper bag down,
and played with her for a while.

I noticed a rustling sound behind me,
and found something was moving on a slope.
(The school was on a halfway up a hill.)
It was like a plastic bag
but moved quite steadily
not like carried by a wind.

It gained speed and was rolling down the hill.
while I was wondering what it was.

I looked down.
The paper bag I was carrying had fallen over.

Ah, the pear...

By the time I realized it was the pear I carried,
it had gone quite far
and was rolling and rolling down the slope.

I started to run after my pear
but it was not that easy catching-up.

The pear kept moving,
rolled out to a main road,
turned into the other direction,
and disappeared from my sight.

I reached the main road and turned,
but could not see the pear
(well, the moving plastic bag containing the pear)

Then I remembered.
All the way from Yokohama Station to my home
was a big long endless slope.

That means, for the pear,
it is a easy slide down the whole long way.

Well, the other day
I saw a man enjoying the long long ride
on a skateboard without pushing at all.
He was just standing on a board,
and the slope carried him all the way.
(He was actually an instructor of a certain dance school called Akira.)

I walked back down the slope until a traffic light at a big crossing.
I looked hard and searched in vain for the plastic bag.
The road was so wide and there was no sight of it.
So I gave up, turned around, and went home.

The delicious pear was gone forever.
I really miss it.

I wish I could dance so airily and rhythmically
like that pear
dancing down the hill
so easily and lightly.
